Iron Sky – My Review

If you need a space Nazi movie in your life, you can’t go wrong with this one. Definitely packed with space Nazis.

I was surprised at a couple of aspects of Iron Sky. It’s a dark comedy, a satire, and very silly. But it also brings a European sensibility, directly parodying American politicians and their claims. President Palin is the pre-Trump American idiot in charge.

The seriousness of the Nazi project was welcome. These Nazis are over-the-top movie villains, but they also stay true to character in the quiet moments.

The other big surprise was the epic scale of the space battles, massive visual effects for such a low-budget project. I expected flying toasters, but they delivered a whole lot more.

The big ending twisted the narrative and brought it back down to earth, in a flaming heap. I must mention that the final shot of the movie is the final image of my satirical novel Hell of a Deal. You can look that up on your own if you’re so inclined.

So yes. Space Nazis are a fun bit of escape.
